Supporting work and wellbeing
“I joined the JETS programme in March 2021 after being out of work for a year. I’d been claiming Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) and then Job Seekers Allowance (JSA) to help me financially, but I was referred to JETS to give me more support for my wellbeing as well as trying to get back into work.
“I used to work at a well-known supermarket store and I really liked it there, but I left due to lack of hours. However, I really struggled with the new job I went to and I found it very stressful- so I wish I never left my previous job! I was keen to get back to my old job because I felt comfortable there.
“I found the JETS programme really helpful. My Employment Advisor Shannon was in touch with me every couple of weeks to help me with my job applications and with searching new vacancies online. She steered me in the right direction. I found that there was so much less pressure, being on JETS. They really supported me to find work at my own pace, which for me made it so much easier.
Getting her confidence back
“I’m now back to where I was working before and I’m much happier. It’s so nice to be back somewhere familiar and that’s really helped me with my mental health. It feels good to be getting back to a bit of normality- however with COVID it does feel difficult at times, but I’m getting there. I’m glad to be financially independent again and to finally be getting my confidence back.”
