Mark came to the Restart Scheme, hoping to be supported to achieve his ambitions, and right at the start of his journey, he discussed his goals for the future with his Employment Adviser at Reed in Partnership, Ellie.
He had experience in engineering and also self-employment, as he previously owned a food truck and bespoke surfboard company. His goal was to start up his own hot tub maintenance company and had already started his research on this, which he came armed with when he met with Ellie so that she had as much information as possible.
Nothing to hold him back
The main thing that Mark needed was a 2,500 litre water transfer bag for the safe and effective cleaning of the hot tubs, along with some social media and marketing support. So, Ellie ordered the water transfer bag which was delivered to Mark, allowing him to complete a job on Boxing Day! He also has potential contracts with several holiday parks and cleaning companies for all year round maintenance roles.
Mark is still being supported by Ellie to help with the marketing side of his business and managing his accounts and book keeping. He is also attending remote training courses funded by the Restart Scheme.
Creating opportunities for the community
Moving forward, Mark has fantastic ambitions for his business and would like to start offering apprenticeships and work experience to ex-offenders as a form of rehabilitation and a chance of fair and unbiased employment. He is also keen on offering the same opportunities to people with learning difficulties.
Brilliant work, Mark! We wish you all the best for your growing business. #NoOneLeftBehind
