Throughout July, we are celebrating the 1 year anniversary of our delivery of the Restart Scheme! It’s been an outstanding year of exciting opportunities and life changing work, and we’re so proud to say that we have supported over 5,000 people into work in that time.
We’re putting a spotlight on some of our team members across the country, who have contributed to this fantastic figure. Amy is an Employability Trainer in our Wells office.
- Tell us about your role and what you love about it
“I help teach our participants in employability skills, such as interview techniques and CVs, as well as helping them discover where it is they want to work and what skills they have to offer. I also offer an abundance of health & wellbeing sessions to improve our participant’s confidence and help them along the way.
“I love my role because you really feel like you help others, both in terms of making them feel good about themselves and seeing them develop self-belief and confidence along with helping them on their recruitment journey. It is a very rewarding and fulfilling role.
- What was your first or most interesting job?
“My first job was in a hospitality within a small, independent hotel in Wells. I worked there for 5 years from housekeeping, restaurant and bar, and I was always being known as the smiley one! I was in hospitality for 10 years, loving the ability to improve other days.”
- Favourite thing to do after work?
“My favourite thing to do after work is putting on the podcast that I listen to when I get home and cooking; I find it incredibly relaxing.”
- What advice would you give to someone looking for work at the moment?
“I would always say stay positive, believe in yourself and have an open mind! You have so much to offer and if you believe it, they will too! You never know what is around the corner.”
- Favourite food, film and place?
“Favourite food: ribs & chips. Favourite film: 101 Dalmations. Favourite place: Collioure, France
- Describe something interesting about yourself
“Due to my grandfathers’ job, I lived in Portugal, Indonesia and Thailand when I was very young.”
- Something that you’re proud of this month
“I created the wall of success this month, highlighting everyone we have helped back into work. We have received excellent feedback from participants of this which makes me proud.”
