Jane Forrest- Inclusion Consultant
- Tell us about your role and why you love it.
“My role as an Inclusion Consultant is an exciting new role for Seetec Pluss, and my primary responsibility is to champion the benefits of employing people with a disability to a wide range of employers from various sectors and size of organisations, by encouraging them to join the Disability Confidence scheme.
“I offer a consultative, individualistic, tailored approach, helping employers to make changes to their recruitment practices to enhance and improve inclusivity within the workplace. I love my job as I can positively make a difference to improve the lives of people with a disability, and I aim to promote the message to the wider society that people are disabled by barriers in society, not by their impairment or difference.”
- What was your first job?
“I worked for the Inland Revenue on a Youth Training Scheme (YTS) as a Tax Assistant. My duties consisted of handwriting thousands and thousands of names and addresses on paper tax returns, and notice of coding’s as we did not have computers back then. #HandAche”
- Favourite thing to do after work?
” Yoga class and walking my dog on the beach.”
- What advice would you give to someone looking for work at the moment?
“Ensure your CV is tailored to each job you are applying for, detail not only your skills and experience but also what personal attributes you can bring to the role. An interesting CV stands out from the crowd!”
- Favourite food, film and place?
“My favourite place is anywhere hot and sunny drinking cocktails, preferably!”
- Describe something interesting about yourself.
“I am a Chelsea football supporter, which goes against my Brummie Aston Villa fan’s family roots!”
- Something that you’re proud of this month.
“I am really excited to announce we will be hosting our first Disability Confident Virtual Event for Employers on 1st February 2022!”
