Moving to a new house can be stressful enough, however moving to a new city and being faced with finding a new job can be a different level of worry altogether. That’s exactly what Michelle was going through when she joined the JETS scheme in February.
“When I was living in London, I was working as a coach driver. Then when we moved to Dorset, I was out of work for 14 months. I lost hope and was feeling quite down, because I never seemed to get any of the jobs that I was applying for.
“I was referred to JETS and my Employment Advisor Shannon gave me a lot of support. She put me in for CV and interview courses and helped me to look for jobs, which was a great help. She was so positive and really helped with my confidence and self-esteem.
“I found a job vacancy online, working in a retail store, so I applied, went for an interview, and was offered the job that afternoon! I was so pleased. It’s the first time that I’ve ever worked in retail and I’m really enjoying it; the people are really nice.
“Now that I’m back in work, I feel so much happier and confident, and I can finally enjoy living in Dorset without the worry of looking for work.”
