Ryan Brebner from Warrington is one of the first people to get back into work on the governments new JETS programme.

Ryan, 21, was made redundant in June 2020 as a result of the pandemic. Despite several knockbacks, Ryan remained highly motivated to find work. He now has a choice of jobs and is about to start work with Royal Mail in their warehouse as a Picker Packer.

“I had moved to Warrington to start a new life with my girlfriend and was working for a betting company when the pandemic hit”, explains Ryan. “I hadn’t been there long so they let me go. I was really disappointed but started to apply for jobs straight away. In the following months, I must have applied for close to 100 jobs and yet I didn’t get a single interview – just two or three rejection emails. It was so demoralising and a very difficult situation to be in. I felt stressed and anxious.

Quick and easy to sign up

“I read about JETS on the news so I registered straight away. The very next day I was contacted by Jamie from Seetec Pluss. It was so quick and easy to sign up.

“The first thing we did was look at my CV as Jamie felt this could be the reason I wasn’t getting interviews. We made some improvements, and I also did some interview training and practise. Jamie got to know the kind of jobs I was interested in and helped apply for jobs on my behalf.

“Seetec Pluss arranged my first interview within the following 24 hours, which was amazing seeing as I’d not had an interview for months. They also had lots of conversations with Managers from other stores and arranged further interviews. Within a week this resulted in me being offered a job as a Customer Services Assistant for a national retailer. I was so relieved and very happy.

The perfect job

“And now, I’ve been offered an even better job at Royal Mail as a Picker Packer in their warehouse. This is the perfect job for me as it is well paid and active. My long-term aim is to join the police so the physical side of my new job is great.

“I’d definitely recommend the JETS programme. Everyone I spoke to at Seetec Pluss was brilliant – so quick and helpful!”
