Joseph was supported on the JETS programme, to move into and find work very quickly. Due to not being able to read or write, he was assisted by his Employment Advisor, Susie.
She met him on site at his first shift to read out the health and safety information to him and the agency involved in the job stated; “Joseph came in today to register, and we got all paperwork done together – he seems really lovely!”
“I am loving my new job and I’m getting the hours I wanted, which is nights, and I find the people on site very friendly. Thank you to Susie for supporting me through this and helping me with train fare and for getting me support with reading out the health and safety paperwork on site on my first shift”.
Since then, Joseph has been in contact with his Employment Advisor to ask her to complete an application form to submit to the employer directly, as permanent jobs had been made available. Susie submitted the application form via the company’s website that same day and the following day Joseph called to say he had an interview.
That same evening Joseph had been offered the job!
He was so grateful for all the support and help he had been given to secure him work and said,
“Without your support I would not be in work now. I’m so grateful for all the extra time you have spent with me, securing me a more permanent job.”
We wish Joseph all the very best in his new role.
The Work and Health JETS programme is funded by the Department for Work and Pensions and the European Social Fund.
