Roxanne joined the JETS programme In March 2022 and had previously worked in the health care sector as a support worker. As a mum of 4 she was looking for part time work but her ultimate dream was to work with dogs and start her own business.

Roxanne worked with her Employment Advisor Lisa, together they researched the requirements for becoming a dog walker and put a plan into action whilst Roxanne took on a part time bar role.

Once the plan was in motion, Lisa ordered a new laptop for Roxanne and enrolled her on a canine first aid course which she successfully completed and is now studying a canine law online qualification.

Whilst on the JETS programme Roxanne developed an online presence for her business called Hiking Hounds Wirral and she is already staring to build up a regular client base.

“We offer recall sessions, one on one or group sessions, drop in half hour to an hour walks and hikes across Wirral, Liverpool and Cheshire” says Roxanne who is also looking to expand to boarding later down the line.

Of her experience with JETS and becoming self employed she commented;

I would recommend the JETS programme as it has helped to put my vision into reality, with the support, guidance and funding for qualifications and a laptop, my business has gone from nought to sixty in a short space of time. Setting goals and planning with Lisa has helped me to start my business and to aim high.”

What a fantastic dream outcome for Roxanne.
