Trispen was referred to the Restart Scheme in January 2022 by his Work Coach at the Jobcentre Plus in Redruth. Trispen joined the team at Reed in Partnership whilst living in a shared home, having previously been homeless. He was keen to get into work and become completely independent.
During his time on the scheme, Trispen regularly attended his appointments with his Employment Advisor, Emma, and was always keen to try his hand to anything. He engaged well in the scheme and had a lot of transferrable skills that he could use in a variety of roles. Emma supported Trispen on his journey to look at private rentals and helped find a flat that was affordable to him. Because of this, Trispen was able to start looking for work.
Trispen applied for several roles and tried his hand at self-employment, as a gardener. Although this was Trispen’s passion, he decided he wanted to have a stable income and needed support from Emma to approach employers with any vacancies they had. Emma went through what his goals were now that he’d decided self-employment was the route for him. He explained that he wanted full-time work but to finish early in the evenings so he could enjoy being at home in his new flat.
Lisa, the branch manager, contacted Winners Recruitment on the 13th May 2022. James at Winners spoke with Trispen and loved his energy and felt he was the perfect fit, working 37.5 hrs a week. Trispen loved the sound of the job and the company and by the end of the meeting with James, he had a start date for the following day!
Trispen is enjoying his new role and is looking forward to working towards a more secure future for himself. When asked about his experience on the Restart Scheme he said, “Since I joined in January, everyone I have worked alongside has been amazing and has helped me move on to the next steps in my life. I am excited to see what comes next!”
We wish Trispen all the luck in the world for his future! #NoOneLeftBehind
