“I’m really excited to start a new job, all within two months with Seetec!”
Meeting the Seetec Pioneer team in Swindon led David to swiftly launch his dream career, where he is already on his way to becoming a fully qualified surveyor!
David met our Seetec Swindon team at a local jobs fair after he had been made redundant from a previous role. He had been struggling to sleep without the routine of work and, at just 21, felt daunted by the challenge of getting his career goals back on track.
Once on programe with Seetec, as part of our Work & Health Programme (WHP) Pioneer service, David enjoyed the 1:1 support of his employment adviser, Charlotte, who helped him to focus on what he really wants for his working future.
David shared that he hoped to find an engineering role, but felt he lacked the experience and qualifications needed. Charlotte was able to open his eyes to a range of local opportunities including apprenticeships and jobs that would include development opportunity to progress.
Together, they immediately created a targeted CV and began to make good quality applications for engineering relevant role. David didn’t find writing about himself easy, so Charlotte’s guidance was valuable to help him describe his interests, transferable skills and personal qualities effectively to potential employers.
Better sleep to prepare for a better future
Alongside his re-energised job search, David was supported to tackle his sleep difficulties with practical workshops that helped him to regain control of his routines and wellbeing. He also worked intensively to brush up his interview skills and confidence in preparation for the next stage.
David didn’t wait long for his efforts to be rewarded and was soon invited to interview with Environmental. With a clear head, he was able to present himself as the talented, confident young professional he is.
A job with development opportunity
David was snapped up by Environmental who recognised his engineering potential as a Drainage Surveyor. He is now back in work, undertaking a comprehensive workplace training package, which will see him qualify as a fully qualified surveyor soon.
